On December 10th, the UFC will showcase a bout between long time UFC star Josh Koscheck and UFC newcomer Yoshiyuki Yoshida.
Josh Koscheck is coming off a loss to the powerhouse Thiago Alves, who destroyed Matt Hughes in London this summer. Besides that, Koscheck has lost 2 times in the last 3 years, one coming to current champion Georges St Pierre.
After taking the Thiago fight on short notice, Koscheck wants an opportunity to get back in the contention picture of the welterweight division, after losing what very well may have been a title shot.
With a Division 1 College Wrestling championship and an impressive 13-3 mixed martial arts record, Koscheck looks tough to any opponent.
When asked about Yoshida, Koscheck said "i'm not too concerned." He seems confident, and if he's 100% from the Thiago fight, he'll be tough to take down.
Yoshiyuki Yoshida is new to the UFC, with one fight (Win via Choke) in the Octagon, he doesn't look all too impressive. But after looking into the fighter, it's apparent that many UFC fans have underated this fighter. Yoshida was in an oversees organization mainly intended to foster fighters and send them to the UFC.
Yoshida fought his way through the tournament taking out many big name prospects using his Judo, forcing a few first-round stoppages on his way to a 4-0 record in 07.
His favorite fighting style is ground and pound, this will be interesting to see versus Koscheck's wrestling.
This will be an interesting fight between two very experienced fighters, but based on the recent hot streak, I predict Yoshida to surprise the UFC world next week with a win via submission.
